DESCRIPTION:Textures and Patterns in Nature March 1st 2026\nOpen now for registration! Click here \nAs feltmakers and textile artists\, we love texture and pattern and of course nature is the consummate designer. In this workshop\, you will learn how to recreate specific textures/ patterns on your felt surface using photographs as your source documents and nature as your reference point. This sampling class will result in a variety of experimental techniques leading to the creation of very unique surface textures. A sampling class is a relaxed and creative way to learn more about feltmaking. So much information and low stress. You will be encouraged to take your own images as source material for your felt work. This class will help you to access creative ways to create your very own textures and patterns referenced from your own area or places you have visited. You will be given a huge range of techniques to choose from and the skills you will need to make your felt interesting and creative. We will work in flat felt and in 3D. The course will cover tips\, tricks\, and tools\, mono-printing\, stenciling\, dyeing\, sculptural work\, texture\, and pattern development techniques and that is just the tip of the iceberg! An introduction to photography apps\, basic cutting technology\, basic dyeing and shibori on felt and fabric. A very personal\, nature-based felt exploration. \n  \n\nEnrolment\, payment\, and registration is open and payment plans will be available (Class formally begins 1st March 2026). It’s increasingly clear though that with more grounding in good technique\, the better the making goes” \n“For a while now I’ve been moving away from using heat and aggressive handling toward the end of fulling\, and this class has confirmed that. It’s remarkable how much more pleasing my finished felt is\, and how easily it comes together\, with cold water and simple rolling alone. DESCRIPTION:OPEN STUDIO AND ARTS TRAIL\nCreative Samford is excited to present the Samford and Surrounds ArtsTrails 2022. Every weekend in June\, artisans will open their studios and venues for visitors to view and purchase unique\, handmade\, stunning works of art and crafts. \nMy studio will be open every weekend in June as part of the Arts Trail\, which is one of my favourite local events. Each piece of work I make has a story and I love to share these stories with visitors\, and talk about how pieces are made. You can also purchase your favourite piece\, or a special gift for a special someone while you’re here. \nI would love you to come and visit. \nThe beautiful Trails book showing where and when to find the artisans is available now at the Slab Hut in John Scott Park in Samford or view the booklet online here. \nCreative Samford is working to bring artists together for the common good of Samford and surrounds creative community. \nWe want to make the arts visible and see Samford and surrounds become renowned as a creative place to visit\, do business in and live.
