The Sanctuary of Meraki: (may-rah-kee) (adj): to put something of yourself into your work.
This joint exhibition, by Brisbane based textile artists Sharyn Hall and Wendy Bailye, has allowed each artist to delve into the essence of their creativity.
Referencing their individual personal narratives, they have constructed a body of work, through joint conversations and individual explorations, finding sanctuary in their creative practice. These imaginative works explore the textures, colours and patterns of the natural and botanical worlds, and bring to life stories and images from personal journeys and travels.
The individual art practices of these artists have created an exotic environment where the viewer is drawn into a world of inspiration and creativity – the Sanctuary of Meraki.
