“Wendy Bailye’s The Felt Studio is one of my happy places.”

Wendy is first & foremost an artist across many mediums, but best known for her skill in all aspects of felt. One of her very special talents is her ability to impart her knowledge with modesty, patience & good humour across all the skill levels of those who attend her classes at her Samford studio.

Wendy has a local, Australian & International reputation as an excellent tutor of felt making in all its forms. I have been very fortunate to attend several of her classes at The Felt Studio, gaining experience in painting with felt, sculpting teapots, incorporating felt into jewellery we made as part of a four day workshop, and most recently learning to print photographic images onto fabric to incorporate into our felting work.

Wendy Bailye is an amazing human & a born educator. I highly recommend her & The Felt Studio to all who want to have a great workshop experience.

Thank you so much for your unstinting willingness to pass on not only your amazing knowledge but your love and enthusiasm for all things felting.

You have really been a wonderful inspiration – you put me on track for great felting resources, demonstrated that felting should be a calm and gentle pastime (still working on this) and impressed on me the need for quality felting and maintaining the integrity of our craft (will continue to work hard on this one).  I am sure your enormous talent and generous spirit will allow you achieve all you aim for. Just wanted to wish to all the best and say a huge thank you.

Dear Wendy,

I really want to thank you once more for the fantastic day I spent with you and the other women at the workshop in February. I loved it so much! Thank you for being so passionate about your art and always willing to share this passion with other people. Thanks to you, we have opened our eyes to a beautiful art and, personally, it has enriched my life now that I know some of the secrets behind the art of felt and that I can really appreciate the work behind it too.

Hello Wendy,

Many thanks for a wonderful experience at the recent Brisbane Craft Fair.
Thoroughly enjoyed making the felt flower and nuno scarf.

Hi Wendy,
Thank you so much for the lovely workshop – it was very relaxing and so much fun.  I made 3 more flowers yesterday and am filled with the urge to give a flower to everyone I know! Hope you had a lovely day in Melbourne Monday before you flew out.

Thanks to you Wendy for an excellent (if not exhausting!?) 2 days.

The venue is great and your constant assistance was well appreciated.

Wendy has to be one of the best “Educational Facilitators” I have come across. I lectured Vis Arts @ Uni and taught in T.A.F.E. and Adult Ed for many years and there are not many who have the care and patience for their students that Wendy has. Her knowledge of subject was also superb as was her ability to share that.

Thanks for providing the opportunity for us all to share this experience.

Cheers

“Wendy’s extensive knowledge and experience showed through in her presentation. She was generous with her time to all participants; answering all questions and stopping to help where required. This was reflected in the feedback given by participants at the end of the workshop. All feedback was positive, as can be seen from these few examples:

  • This workshop will keep me experimenting for a long time. So many ideas and options. Fun to be able to share with many creative individuals.
  • Your guidance and patience in the class is much appreciated. I will go away with a wealth of information that will be used for years to come. Thank you, Wendy.
  • Finally, someone teaching Sampling – what a great way to extend your own creative direction.
  • Great inspirational workshop. Able to adapt techniques shown into felting work, told to try everything, there are endless possibilities; some challenges; and results positive and/or negative are always a learning opportunity.
  • Brilliant workshop – start of a wild and wonderful journey of exploration. Sampling = learning.”

“I found Wendy’s workshop “Shades of Grey” eye opening. It has enabled me to greatly develop my felting repertoire. I come from a design background and she enabled me to easily apply design principles to my felting. Thank you Wendy. “
