“For the past three years local Samford felt maker Wendy Bailye has been working with Mixed Media artist Sharyn Hall combining their skills to further each other’s artistic development. This has been a very rewarding continuing collaboration. Textiles in all their forms will be exhibited over three days and there will be lots of unique handmade items to buy. It will be a feast for the senses. Expect plenty of smaller items that will make fantastic Christmas gifts; brooches, bags, large and small art for the wall, handmade embroidered boxes, handmade cards and exquisite machine embroideries. There will be a variety of hand felted and hand dyed wraps and scarves. This year there will be a new range of Wendy’s men’s and women’s felted slippers, baby booties and stylish hot water bottle covers. Sharyn’s hand dyed fabrics, embroideries and mixed media works will be a highlight as usual. It has been a busy year for Wendy, she has just released nationally and internationally her first instructional DVD called Felting with Fabrics which passes on techniques she has developed for well over 15 years. It is available from her website or from the exhibition. Sharyn also has produced a book on dyeing techniques which is an accumulation of her many years of experience dyeing and manipulating bespoke fabrics-if you enjoy colour and texture this is a must have! Expect a dose of quirkiness, priceless individuality, bold colours and amazing textures and techniques! It is here you will find truly unique Christmas presents all with that little bit of hand crafted eccentricity.”
I have put a new gallery (Recent work 2011) of work up on site which is photos of work that will be in my Wild Things exhibition with Sharyn Hall – so if you want a preview, have a peek!
