Today I finished some very nice slippers! Size eleven men’s in a folk art design. They are made from Swedish Finn Wool. They took over two days to complete – a labor of love! Off to Adelaide tomorrow for the Craft and Quilt Fair. It is always a busy week and a lot of fun. I will be demonstrating felt making all week so do pop in and say hi! Last fair in Brisbane we made some fun things – slippers, tea cosies, scarves, jewellery and hats. I have never been to Adelaide before and am quite looking forward to seeing the city sights. I will have new kits available for $25 AUD. Each kit will make three white silk flowers.
It is easy to dye the flowers once made. You need a microwave and some food colouring (DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE COMMERCIAL DYES IN A FOOD MICROWAVE). Place 1 cup water, 1 drop of dish liquid, 1 teaspoon of vinegar in a plastic container add 1 drop food colour, microwave for 1-2 minutes until hot and steamy (time will vary depending on the wattage of your microwave). Add more food colour to the water mix and redo if it’s not dark enough and feel free to mix colours. This method works on wool and silk. It’s quite light fast as well. Liz will be teaching a class on my stall at the fair, making the same flower.
The class is $20 – please book at the stall.
Well I better go and pack. All my wool is packed of course but not my clothes!
